OSCODA – The Oscoda-AuSable Chamber of Commerce board unanimously decided to cancel Paul Bunyan Days due to the threat of the Coronavirus at their July meeting.
“We weren’t totally sure. We were going to try and spread it out and then right before that meeting was when they went back to limited gatherings,” said OACC Executive Director June Wygant. “The way it happens all on that field it would be super hard to control how many people are there at one time.”
Additionally, the burger contest which typically takes place this week until Paul Bunyan Days will be canceled as well due to the cancellation of the main event.
“There’s no plans to do the burger contest because that was all part of gearing up everybody for the Paul Bunyan festival,” said Wygant.
She did say however that a stand alone burger contest may take place in possibly October or November. For more information about chamber events visit https://www.oscodachamber.com or call staff at 739-7322.
