Justin Herbert has his contract, and the Chargers have their franchise quarterback locked up for years to return.

Herbert and the Chargers agreed as we speak to a five-year contract that a number of reviews put at a complete worth of $262.5 million, barely greater than Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson obtained this offseason.

Whatever they’re paying, it’s a superb deal for the Chargers, who now trust that they’ll have an elite quarterback for a few years to return.

The Chargers nonetheless have work to do to construct a roster that may dethrone the Chiefs within the AFC West. But the most important piece of labor is completed.
