Toyota has revealed Urban Cruiser’s price in India. The sub-compact SUV starts from ₹8.4 lakh and goes all the way to ₹11.3 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. With this, Toyota becomes the latest carmaker to enter the competitive sub-four metre SUV segment in India. The Urban Cruiser is essentially Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza but sports a handful of design changes to give it a distinctive look. However, there are still plenty of similarities between the two SUVs. The Urban Cruiser gets the same interior layout as Vitara Brezza and even the feature list on both the vehicles in identical. However, the main difference between Urban Cruiser and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is that the former is available with a warranty period of 3 years or 1 lakh km. Toyota noted that Urban Cruiser’s deliveries in India will begin from mid-October. To those customers who book the SUV before mid-October, Toyota is also offering the ‘Respect Package’ that includes ‘no-cost periodic maintenance’ for up to 2 years or 20,000 km, whichever comes earlier.

Toyota Urban Cruiser: Design

Toyota Urban Cruiser gets a two-slat wedge cut grille flanked by dual-chamber LED projector headlamps. The shape of the headlight cluster is the same as that on the Vitara Brezza but the Urban Cruiser gets a slightly redesigned bumper with a different shape for the fog lamp housing and slightly redesigned faux skid plate on the rear bumper. Apart from these changes, the Urban Cruiser will also come with a host of monotone and dual-tone paint scheme. But the tail lights and alloy wheels are the same as on Vitara Brezza.

The Urban Cruiser gets a dual-tone dark brown colour theme for the interior and comes equipped with provisions like a seven-inch Smart Playcast touchscreen system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, semi-digital instrument console, steering mounted controls, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control system, electrochromic rear-view mirror, key-less entry, cruise control, and push-button start/stop. 

Toyota Urban Cruiser: Safety features

The Urban Cruiser gets the same safety features as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. This includes dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors, reverse parking camera, speed alert system, and hill hold system (automatic variants only). 

Toyota Urban Cruiser: Specs

Toyota Urban Cruiser uses Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza’s 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates 103 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with a choice between a five-speed manual gearbox and four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Urban Cruiser’s automatic variants also get Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza’s Smart Hybrid technology that includes dual lithium-ion battery system to improve fuel efficiency.
