Opening on the V&A museum on Saturday, “Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto” is the primary British exhibition devoted to the designer’s creations and longstanding affect on style.

Her famed tweed fits, unfastened becoming and low-waisted clothes and dazzling night robes are among the many outfits on show. Chanel died in 1971, aged 87. Late designer Karl Lagerfeld took over the luxurious model’s inventive helm in 1984 and remained there till his demise in 2019, when he was succeeded by present inventive director Virginie Viard.
