As Week 6 of the college football season dawns, we’ve reached the point where being undefeated is beginning to actually carry weight as just 17 unbeaten squads remain at the FBS level, including only 10 from Power Five conferences. Among the highlights from another loaded Saturday slate of games will be several of those unbeaten teams putting their records on the line against quality opposition, which means the number of undefeated squads will shrink again when the dust settles. 

In the early window of games, No. 6 Oklahoma took on No. 21 Texas in a classic and No. 11 Michigan State dispatched Rutgers. In the afternoon, No. 10 BYU was upset by Boise State, while No. 24 SMU fended off an upset bid from Navy.  No. 4 Penn State squared off with No. 3 Iowa in a battle of unbeaten Big Ten teams. Also highlighting the afternoon slate is No. 2 Georgia taking on No. 18 Auburn on CBS in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. No. 1 Alabama battles Texas A&M in a primetime showdown on CBS, while No. 9 Michigan, No. 16 Kentucky and No. 19 Wake Forest all putting their perfect records on the line against teams that are .500 or better.
