Kyle Rosenbrock is living proof you can succeed as a student and an athlete.

The Colorado State University Pueblo linebacker has been named the 2019-20 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) South Central Region Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

“It’s pretty rewarding,” Rosenbrock said. “I feel blessed and honored to get this award.”

In July, Rosenbrock earned the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award.

The senior linebacker posted a 3.94 GPA as an engineering major.

Rosenbrock earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America first-team honors in 2019. Rosenbrock received CoSIDA Academic all-district honors in 2019, as well.

“Academics have always been a priority,” he said. “I almost went to Colorado Mines but I am extremely happy I went to CSU Pueblo where I had fun and had success.”

Rosenbrock has been interning at UTC as a manufacture engineer and has been commuting from Colorado Springs.

“I started the internship last May and they keep extending it,” he said. “I’m not on full time yet but I’m working at it.”

Rosenbrock has fond memories of playing at CSU Pueblo and especially earning an engineering degree.

“I was blessed to have the opportunity to go to CSU Pueblo, kind of followed up with my brother,” Rosenbrock said. “It was exciting to go down the engineering path.

“I have to thank Coach (John) Wristen, who helped put school as a priority. I did miss some practices because of school and that made it difficult on the coaching staff. But the football and engineering departments worked together and I was appreciative for that.”

Rosenbrock garnered first-team academic all-RMAC honors in each of the past three seasons. He received a spot on the RMAC’s all-academic honor roll as a redshirt freshman. He claimed first-team all-RMAC honors in 2019.

With 42.0 career tackles for loss, Rosenbrock is tied for fifth all-time at CSU-Pueblo. His 16.5 sacks is also fifth and he closed his career with 264 tackles (111 solo) to rank third in the program’s modern era (since 2008).
