Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 6 Live Updates: The Indian men’s hockey team has dominated Canada and is leading 5-0 in a Men’s Pool B match. Also, in women’s 87+kg category Purnima Pandey is in action. The CWG 2022 is at the halfway stage and India have done really well so far. India have so far won five gold medals and will have a chance to increase the tally when judoka Mann plays in the women’s 78kg final later in the evening. On Wednesday, Lovepreet Singh bagged a bronze medal in men’s 109kg weightlifting while boxers Nitu Ganghas (women’s 48kg) and Hussam Uddin Mohammed (men’s 57kg) have advanced to the semi-finals to assure India of two more medals. In hockey, the Indian women’s team progressed into the semi-finals with a 3-2 win over Canada in their last Pool A match. In round 2 of the lawn bowls, Indian women’s pair of Lovely Choubey and Nayanmoni Saikia won their match 23-6, while Mridul Borgohain registered a superb 21-5 win in his men’s singles match.
On Tuesday, India witnessed a historic moment as the women’s four lawn bowls team clinched a historic gold – the first-ever for the country in the sport. It was followed was a gold from the men’s table tennis team. Meanwhile, the mixed badminton team and weighlifter Vikas Thakur (96kg) bagged a silver each. On Wednesday, the likes of boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain are also set to hog the limelight. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s cricket team will be in action late night. And if the entertainment is due even after that, it is athletics that will take the stage simultaneously to end the day on a high for the fans.
