KUALA LUMPUR: The police have issued compounds to 180 people for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO) while nine others were detained following a raid at a nightclub here.
Acting on a tip off, a police team raided the nightclub at Jalan Metro Pudu here at about 12.15am on Sunday (Oct 4).
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, who led the raiding team, said the club’s patrons were busy partying when police arrived on scene.
He said that that police personnel issued compounds to 137 men and 43 women aged between 23 and 38 for violating the recovery MCO.
“We view such violations serious and stern action will be taken against those who flour the recovery MCO.
“We also seized music equipment and other items from the premises,” said SAC Nik Ros Azhan.
He added that urine tests for drugs were performed on 60 people, and all came back negative.
“We detained six men- three local and three foreigners – who were workers at the club along with three other men who had tattoos that were the insignia of illegal groups.
“We are investigating them further,” he said when contacted on Sunday.
SAC Nik Ros Azhan added that the police will continue to conduct similar operations in the future.
“We are grateful to the public for their cooperation in the matter,” he said.
