The study warns unnecessary overemphasis on fever as a predominant symptom, which could lead to several cases getting missed. Furthermore, it was stated that 44.4 per cent patients showed no symptoms, while 34.7 per cent reported cough, with 17.4 per cent reporting fever. The study was published in the Indian Council of Medical Research’s Indian Journal of Medical Research.
For the longest time the primary clinical signs were considered to be persistent fever, cough, fatigue and difficulty in breathing, however, in June the Ministry of Health added others like loss of smell, taste, diarrhoea as well as muscle pain as telling symptoms of COVID-19.
