Glenmark defends price of its of its generic version of favipiravir after DCGI sends notice
- Glenmark Pharmaceuticals defended the pricing of its generic version of favipiravir, FabiFlu, on Tuesday, after India’s drug regulator had reportedly sent the company a notice on overpricing.
- Shares of the Mumbai-based company fell as much as 5.8% on Monday after local media reports said the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) pulled up Glenmark regarding the price of the tablet and other concerns.

- Karur Vysya Bank on Tuesday announced that it has appointed Ramesh Babu Boddu as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
- In a regulatory filing, Karur Vysya Bank said its board of directors in a meeting held on July 20, have co-opted Ramesh Babu Boddu as an additional director and appointed him as the MD and CEO of the bank for a period of three years.

Domestic solar manufacturers hail extension of safeguard duty on Chinese equipment
- Domestic solar manufacturers have welcomed the move to extend safeguard duty on Chinese equipment, although project developers said there should be a clear long-term policy.
- The All India Solar Industries Association also said the duty should be increased to at least 50% from 15%.
US sanctions Chinese companies over Muslim abuse complaints
- The U.S. government has imposed trade sanctions on 11 companies it says are implicated in human rights abuses in China’s Muslim northwestern region of Xinjiang.
- Monday’s announcement adds to U.S. pressure on Beijing over Xinjiang, where the ruling Communist Party is accused of mass detentions, forced labor, and other abuses against Muslim minorities.

Starbucks expands Chinese order services to multiple Alibaba apps
- Chinese Starbucks customers can order the coffee chain’s drinks on Alibaba’s Taobao marketplace and mobile map app Amap, the companies said on Tuesday, expanding a partnership signed in 2018.
- Starbucks’ mobile pre-order and in-store pick-up feature, “Starbucks Now”, previously only available on the coffee giant’s own app, will be extended to four Alibaba platforms, including local services app Koubei and digital payment app Alipay.
