The Union Health Ministry on Saturday mentioned the case of JN.1 subvariant of Covid-19 was detected in Kerala, as a part of the continuing routine surveillance by INSACOG. 

The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) is a community of Genomic Laboratories that has been monitoring Covid-19 in India from a genomic perspective; and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is part of this consortium. 

In line with the revised surveillance tips for COVID-19, sufferers with influenza-like sickness (ILI) and extreme acute respiratory infections (SARI) are examined for Covid-19 and optimistic circumstances are referred for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
