Team India continued with their fiery efficiency and registered their second win within the ongoing ODI World Cup, with a eight-wicket win over Afghanistan. Opting to bat first, Afghanistan posted a complete of 272/8 in 50 overs with Jasprit Bumrah taking a four-wicket haul. Later, skipper Rohit Sharma hammered a century because the hosts chased down the goal in simply 35 overs. Apart from such an excellent chase, it was Shardul Thakur‘s unbelievable catch which grabbed loads of limelight.

In the thirteenth over of Afghanistan’s innings, Rahmanullah Gurbaz miscued his shot in the direction of the deep backward sq. leg boundary off a brief ball by Hardik Pandya. Shardul anticipated the catch brilliantly as he took it calmly, flicked the ball away as he crossed the boundary line and got here again in time to finish it correctly.

After the match, the complete Indian camp lauded Shardul for his sensible catch and he was awarded a medal within the dressing room for breathtaking fielding. He was handed over the medal by none aside from Virat Kohli, who himself had gained the identical award after the earlier match towards Australia.
