New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday said that the state government is now focused on ensuring that the mortality rate in the national capital is kept low and minimised as much as possible, even as infections continue to rise at a steady rate.

“We have recorded 1,250 new Covid-19 positive cases, 1,082 recoveries and 13 deaths in Delhi in the last 24 hours. There are 11,426 active cases. We are trying to minimise the death rate,” Jain said.

Commenting on the move to reopen hotels and markets to rejig the slowed-down economy, Jain reiterated that markets in Delhi will restart but strict social distancing norms have to be followed as well.

“Hotels in Delhi will open as per SOPs issued by the central government and weekly markets will begin functioning while maintaining social distancing,” Jain said, according to news agency ANI.
