New Delhi: Delhi University will begin the admission process for undergraduate applicants under the sports category on November 8. The university has released the initial award list and the applicants have time till Friday to register their grievances, following which a centralised admission list will be announced.
Due to Covid-19, DU did not hold trials this year and admissions to various merit-based courses under the sports category will be based on certificates. The award list is based on evaluation of the certificates uploaded by the applicants.
“The centralised merit list for each sport along with the ranking will be displayed on the DU undergraduate portal after the redressal of the grievances raised by applicants,” a senior official said.
According to university guidelines, the allotment of colleges and courses to the eligible applicants will be done in a centralised manner and based on the preferences of colleges and courses as indicated by the candidates. The online portal will be available between November 8 and November 10 for applicants to register their preferences.
“The allotment of college and course will be based on the rank of the applicant in the order of the centralised sports admission merit list subject to the availability of the game or sport in the said college,” the guidelines read. “There will be no restriction on the number of colleges the applicant may give preference for while seeking admission.”
However, an official said, allotment of a college and a course will be subject to the fulfilment of course-specific eligibility criteria and conforming to DU regulations. “All eligible applicants will be given one chance to register their preferences for colleges and relevant courses on DU’s online portal,” the official said.
