Dublin Police Thursday stated 5 individuals, together with no less than three kids, have been hospitalised after a knife assault which occurred close to a college on the road in Dublin metropolis centre, reported Reuters.
A five-year-old woman and a lady in her 30s have been critically injured, and the opposite two kids are being handled for much less severe accidents. A person in his 50s, who can also be being handled for severe accidents, was detained by police. He is a “individual of curiosity”, police stated.
The motive for the assault has not been established but, Dublin Police added.
“The woman is receiving emergency care in hospital, whereas one other woman, aged six, and a five-year-old boy have been much less critically harm, he has been discharged after therapy, AP reported police Superintendent Liam Geraghty as saying.
“We are all shocked by the incident which has taken place in Parnell Square,” Prime Minister Leo Varadkar stated in an announcement.
“I have been in contact with the minister for justice who is keeping me updated. The facts in this matter are still emerging,” he added.
Police Superintendent Geraghty stated they imagine that“…there isn’t any terror-related exercise … in relation to this matter. It seems to be a standalone incident, not essentially related to any wider points which might be ongoing within the nation or within the metropolis, and we have to establish the precise causes for that taking place,” reported AP.
“My understanding is members of the general public did intervene at a really, very early stage and we might applaud these members of the general public for getting concerned in such a traumatic and doubtlessly harmful scenario for themselves,” he added.
