A busy past two days has seen the Michigan High School Athletic Association move football to the spring, and the Okemos and Holt school district postpone a few fall sports.
East Lansing Public Schools has taken that a step further.
East Lansing announced Friday that all fall sports and in-person extra-curricular activities will be postponed, starting on Saturday.
“It is not without great sadness and empathy for our student-athletes and their families that we make this difficult decision. In this time of many unknowns and potential risks, we believe this decision is the safest for our students, coaches, staff and all of their families, as well as the greater East Lansing community,” wrote superintendent Dori Leyko and athletic director Nikki Norris in a message posted on the ELPS Facebook page.

The post also said the school corporation will reevaluate bringing students back on campus for conditioning in mid-September.
The school district announced on Aug. 11 that fall classes will take place online.
