With so much focus being centered on the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been growing concern that our children might be falling behind in learning, and specifically, reading.

The Education Foundation of Osceola County and Osceola Reads, a countywide literacy initiative that offers the free Footsteps2Brilliance reading app, as well as tips for parents to help prepare their children for kindergarten, are working together to make sure our kiddos stay on track for Kindergarten by becoming successful readers at an early age.

The Education Foundation of Osceola County recently sponsored an Osceola Reads technology station to support early literacy for all Osceola County children at no cost.

The station includes two iPads for children to utilize the Footsteps2Brilliance app while visiting the Poinciana Library. Attached to each station is an access code and instructions on how to utilize this resource. Children can also log in using their own Super Secret Code if they have already registered for free at OsceolaReads.com.

“The Education Foundation is proud to be a part of Osceola Reads, sponsoring this reading station for the Poinciana Library and helping inspire our next generation of readers,” said Education Foundation Executive Director Kerry Avery.

The Poinciana Library is ensuring the health and safety of the children using the technology station by focusing on social distancing, sanitation, and other current CDC guidelines. To learn more how the library is keeping those who are visiting the library just visit their website.

The installation at Poinciana Library marks the tenth technology reading station in our community. Currently technology stations can be found at Veteran’s Memorial Library, Hart Memorial Library, Marydia Community Center, Oak Street Community Center, Chambers Park, Osceola County 4C Office, Poinciana Medical Center, St. Cloud Regional Medical Center, and coming soon to the St. Cloud Civic Center Complex.
