Living History Weekend will be featured at Old Bedford Village Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. There will be new displays, demonstrations and exhibits featuring the British, French and the Civil War. Games of the time period will be played. Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for anyone age 62 and older, $5 for ages 6 to 18 and free for ages 5 and younger.
Blue Knob State Park will host a “Birds” program from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Buck Hill Amphitheater, a “Bears” presentation from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at the amphitheater and a visit to the Cooperative Trout Nursery from 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 9.
Cruise-in will be hosted by the Fort Bedford Antique Automobile Club of America from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at Landmark Restaurant, 647 E. Pitt St., Bedford. All makes and years of cars, trucks and motorcycles welcomed.
Akersville Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15-17. Vendor spaces are currently filled. Bedford Arts Cooperative’s “Spring Into Books Festival” has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 protocol changes. In the meantime, beginning in mid-August, the cooperative will feature participating authors, vendors and special guests online in their “Authors’ Room,” where visitors can experience authors reading from their selected works and order books and merchandise online. Bedford Arts Cooperative is accepting artwork for its Sept. 1 opening of the “ART Pandemic” show at 110 W. Pitt St., Bedford. The show will be open both in-person and online in the new, virtual gallery. Registration is online, email, or via postal mail, and the cost to register is $10 for up to two pieces. Submissions will be dropped off during the week of Aug. 24. There will be a cash prize for the “Peoples’ Choice” award. 2D and 3D works will be accepted. All work must be installation ready. The gallery theme is “ART Pandemic,” which should be reflected in all submissions. Artists can express the challenges, triumphs, fears and hardships experienced during COVID-19. A free, public, artists’ reception will be held on Aug. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. Masks will be required, without exception. The show will be on display through the month of September and during the Atomic Radio sci-fi performance radio shows and will serve to enhance the overall experience of the production.
