A “pop-up piano” has been put in by an area charity to lift funds and supply seasonal leisure to guests at Inverness Airport.

The initiative is organised the Liam Colgan Music Fund, which was arrange in reminiscence of the Inverness-based musician and songwriter who tragically died in Hamburg in 2018.

The fund is devoted to serving to aspiring musicians and others eager on pursuing ambitions within the inventive industries.

Sean Fleming, one of many fund’s trustees, stated: “We trialled this project last year and it was such a success that both the Inverness Airport management and Loch Ness Pianos, who provided and installed the piano for us, want to repeat it and help raise money for the fund.”

Since its official launch in October 2020, the fund has helped set up a wide range of tasks together with two awards for music graduates on the University of the Highlands and Islands.

It has additionally organised work expertise placements for college students and song-writing workshops.

In addition, it has sponsored a stage on the native Woodzstock Festival to showcase the finalists of the fund’s Young Songwriter of the Year Award.

Airport basic supervisor Graeme Bell stated: “Live music through the festive interval is an actual deal with for our passengers and workers.

“Visitors to the terminal are welcome to play and donate to the Liam Colgan Music Fund.
