The World Cheese Dip Championship, now a joint occasion with the Foam Fest Craft Beer Festival, takes place 6 p.m. Friday at Dickey-Stephens Park, on the North Little Rock finish of the Broadway Bridge. The championship is in keeping with the brag that Little Rock is the place the place cheese dip was invented in 1935. Cheese dip creators will probably be vying for awards for judges’ and attendees’ favourite. Foam Fest affords samples of a whole bunch of types of craft beer, cider and libations from world wide. Northern Lights Festival

North Little Rock Tourism, the town of North Little Rock and the Argenta Downtown Council host the sixth Northern Lights Holiday Festival, 3-7 p.m. Saturday at Argenta Plaza, 510 Main St., North Little Rock. The occasion features a vacation market, “Santa’s Workshop” with children’ vacation actions, photographs with Santa, music by the Big Dam Horns and North Little Rock’s 38-foot Christmas tree. Food and drinks from meals vans and North Little Rock’s Flyway Brewing and Diamond Bear Brewing Co. will probably be offered. (Restaurants and bars throughout the Argenta Outdoor Dining District will permit patrons to hold to-go drinks inside eating district boundaries, which incorporates the plaza.) No concluding fireworks — officers do not need to scare the horses at close by Piccolo Zoppé’s Winter Circus. Pastels exhibition

“Reflections in Pastel,” the Arkansas Pastel Society’s tenth National Exhibition, opens with a 5:30-7:30 p.m. reception and award ceremony Friday on the William F. Laman Public Library, 2801 Orange St., North Little Rock. Juror Tom Christopher selected 38 items by artists from throughout the nation for the biennial exhibition. It’s on show till Jan. 12.
