Shiloh celebrates 54th annual Ox Roast
SHILOH – A modified version of the annual Shiloh Ox Roast will be be offered on Friday, for one day only. The usual full line-up of food, including 6,000 pounds of beef and corn roast, will be available starting at 11 a.m. until it’s gone.
Unlike in past years, there will not be any rides, events or parade this year due to COVID-19. There will be extra seating and social distancing precautions will be in place.

Crawford County Fair ends Saturday
BUCYRUS – The Crawford County Fair, which started Monday, will wrap up this weekend in Bucyrus. It’s one of the few fairs still being held despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Friday’s highlights include the antique tractor parade at 5 p.m. and the state-sanctioned tractor pull at 7 p.m. Both events take place at the grandstand.
On Saturday at 9 a.m., it’s the Junior Fair livestock sale at the show arena followed by the pedal tractor pull at 11 a.m. and the demolition derby at 7 p.m.

Live on the Lawn at Kingwood
MANSFIELD – Kingwood Center Gardens’ Live on the Lawn summer concert services continues Thursday evening with Tom’s Kitchen Table.
Free admission at the Linden Road gate begins at 6 p.m. with the concert beginning around 7 p.m. Visitors need to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Parking is available on Linden Road or at the corner lot at Linden and Park Avenue West. For people needing assistance, a golf cart shuttle will be available from the Linden Road gate to Kingwood’s south lawn.
Ohio Amphibian and Reptile Festival at Gorman Nature Center
MANSFIELD – Do you have questions about what types of snakes are in Richland County? Do native turtles really spread diseases? Are there any venomous snakes in our area? People can have all of their questions answered and see many of the native species from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday as the Gorman Nature Center (GNC) hosts the Ohio Amphibian and Reptile Festival.
Free Ohio Department of Natural Resources amphibian and reptile guides will be provided for all participants. The schedule for the day will be: 10:30-11:30 a.m., snakes of Richland County; 12:30-1:30 p.m., turtles of Richland County; and 2:30-3:30 p.m., frogs, toads and salamanders of Richland County.
Seating not provided, so bring a lawn chair if you want to sit comfortably during these outdoor sessions. GNC bathrooms are not open at this time. For additional information, call 419-884-3764
Twilight kayaking at Pleasant Hill Lake
PERRYSVILLE – Pleasant Hill Lake Park will host a twilight kayak tour from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Kayakers can bring their own equipment or borrow a kayak and paddle from the park. Life jackets and a light also are provided.
Participants must be at least 12 years of age or older. All participants must complete a waiver. For tickets, go to mwcd.ticketleap.com.
Cruise-in planned for Aug. 1
MANSFIELD – Little Washington Congregational Church, at Washington South and East Hanley roads, will have its 16th annual “Cruise-In” from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 1.
