Once again, Adam Schefter is in the headlines. But it has nothing to do with the fallout from his email flap.

Front Office Sports reports the ESPN NFL insider could leave the Worldwide Leader when his contract expires in the summer of 2022. Now for the kicker: Caesars Sportsbook is preparing to go after the 54-year old Schefter.

Both ESPN and Caesars declined to comment for the story, but according to Front Office Sports, “ESPN absolutely wants to keep Schefty,” said one source. “If you notice, they’ve been expanding his purview, even allowing him to dabble in NBA coverage if he wants.”

And speaking of the NBA, Front Office Sports also reports Caesars Sportsbook could make a run at basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

“The competitive landscape is shifting under our feet as we speak,” warned another source. “The legacy networks want to cut or maintain talent salaries. The gambling companies are flush [with money] — and increasingly willing to spend for sports media talent.

Schefter and/or Wojnarowski going to Caesars Sportsbook “would mark the biggest talent coup yet for a sports gambling company,” according to Front Office Sports.

However ESPN talent crossing over into sports betting is nothing new. Recently released anchors Trey Wingo and Kenny Mayne landed on the Caesars payroll, according to the report.
