SharkFest kicks off tonight on Nat Geo. There will be sharks, sharks, and more sharks for the next five weeks as Nat Geo dives into everything you wanted to know about these ocean predators. This year, Nat Geo has also enlisted ESPN’s Kenny Mayne to introduce a sports flavor to the SharkFest celebration. I have exclusive first look video clips to share

People love to learn about sharks and the annual SharkFest draws a fairly large audience. Nobody on Earth can capture sharks and shark behavior up close and personal better than Nat Geo Explorers and photo journalists like Brian Skerry. I have had the opportunity to visit the tech lab at Nat Geo and witness firsthand the way that team develops innovative tools and solutions to enable Nat Geo to learn and capture more about the world around us.

Nat Geo brought in ESPN’s Kenny Mayne to add some sports flare to SharkFest. In this clip, Kenny starts by poking some fun at the COVID-19 quarantine we find ourselves in, and also points out that sharks have been around longer than dinosaurs, before launching into a Top 10 list of shark species.

As fascinated as you might be with sharks, how many species are you actually aware of? In this second clip, Kenny points out that there are hundreds more species that most people are unaware of, and shares a look at some of the leading contenders that nobody seems to ever talk about.

Check out SharkFest on Nat Geo starting tonight at 8pm Eastern. You should also visit the SharkFest website for more about the schedule of SharkFest shows, and for access to other resources and activities to help you expand your knowledge of sharks.
