COVID-19 has brought the functioning of media and technology products to the forefront of society. This has raised a number of questions when it comes to the ethical creation and distribution of digital media. This report aims to highlight practical application of Safety by Design principles through an examination of four case studies – UAE’s Contact Tracing App (ALHOSN), Twitter, LEGO Life, and Zoom – and consider approaches needed to design ethical digital media products in the future.
