New York, NY – Exequtive Entertainment and Dixon Place proudly current the world premiere of THE PICHER PROJECT, conceived and directed by Quentin Madia, with music, guide and lyrics by Quentin Madia and Lauren Pelaia. THE PICHER PROJECT is a brand new musical that explores the rise and destruction of the now-abandoned mining city of Picher, Oklahoma. Once the world’s largest producer of lead and zinc, Picher turned the EPA’s #1 Superfund website, deeming it probably the most poisonous place in America. Based on interviews, private tales and historic occasions, the present covers the city’s 100-year historical past from the opening of the mines to the city’s demise. While grappling with shedding their houses, the city is compelled to confront their sophisticated political divide, unpredictable pure disasters, and environmentally brought on sicknesses. Through the lives of Picher residents and the usually forgotten expertise of the Quapaw Nation, THE PICHER PROJECT reveals the struggles of sickness, pleasure, love and loss, in the end asking the next questions: How can we take duty for our historical past? How can we deal with the land we dwell on? How can we go away our dwelling?

The inventive staff contains Lauren Pelaia and Irene Westfall (Music Directors), Maren Prophit (Scenic & Props Design), Saawan Tiwari (Costume Design), Travis Wright (Sound Design), Quentin Madia (Light & Projection Design), Rebecca Johnston (Production Stage Manager), Téa Einsarsen (Associate Director) and Angela Lopes (Assistant Stage Manager).

Quentin Madia is a NY/NJ primarily based generative director, producer, and multidisciplinary theatre artist. Favorite credit embrace The Picher Project (Feinstein’s/54 Below), Bridesmaids (Symphony Space), Two Star Motel (Shapeshifter Lab), Bonnie & Clyde (White Horse Tavern), and Trust the Process (Green Room 42). An avid educator, Quentin has directed and taught at UPenn, The College of New Jersey, Steven’s Institute, and extra. Founder and Artistic Director of Exequtive Entertainment. Lauren Pelaia is a NJ singer, songwriter, and composer. Lauren has launched a number of tracks on all streaming platforms. Writing for musical theatre, Lauren orchestrated an authentic rating for the play, Our Town. She wrote authentic music/preparations for the dance narrative, Bridesmaids, that premiered at Symphony Space. For the previous few years she has labored on the music and lyrics to The Picher Project, debuting its rating at 54 Below.
