Five15 Media, Mojo, and More, known for its popular Drag Queen Bingo events in downtown Royal Oak, has acquired the nearby Pronto! Restaurant and Video Bar so it can expand its entertainment options.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Five15 said it will keep the Pronto! name and honor its legacy in the local LGBTQ community as it takes over its restaurant, full-service bar and large outdoor patio space.

“Over the next 18 months it is our plan to give the property a facelift inside and out and add some themed creative culinary charisma to our destination,” Gary Baglio, one of the owners, said in a news release.

The business footprint will include the entire ground floor of the building at 600 and 608 S. Washington Ave., approximately 10,000 square feet, which will include a full kitchen, dining area for table service, bar and added show space. A 2,000- square-foot outdoor patio will also be used for outdoor seating and events.

“Our immediate plan is to take advantage of the enormous outdoor space at the property moving some of our programming and service outdoors, weather permitting, in an effort to give our guests an additional layer of comfort in light of the COVID-19 challenges,” Baglio said in the release.

As many businesses face challenges during the coronavirus pandemic, Five15 said it has continued to sell out shows. The popular comedy show that started in 2008 brings people into downtown Royal Oak from all over the country.

Pronto! opened in 1991 as a deli and catering business. It grew to include a full-service restaurant, bar and Corner Store where shoppers could buy gifts and baked goods. To house these add-on services, the business expanded over the years into neighboring buildings.
