Pernem: Touching upon the importance of a well-balanced life and lifestyle in a youth’s career, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu laid emphasis on sports and healthy eating habits.
“We are hearing about the drug menace. We should not allow such things to dominate people’s minds. They should be made to get into physical fitness, yoga, etc. If you are physically fit, then you are mentally alert,” he said, also pushing for an organic and fresh diet.
“I am not prescribing a particular food, there are thousands of varieties in India. I’m only suggesting that one opt for cooked food — not stale or frozen food. We eat organic indigenous food. Burgers and pizza may be suitable to those countries, but not to our country,” Naidu was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new campus of the Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce at Pernem on Thursday.
Calling for promoting the mother tongue, the Vice-President said, “Studying in the mother tongue can really make a student understand a subject better and one can study many languages.”
