Ford Endeavour Sport bookings open in India, albeit unofficially
Key Highlights
- Ford Endeavour Sport’s price in India will be announced in a few days
- Endeavour Sport model gets cosmetic tweaks like black alloy wheels, black grille, etc.
- Ford Endeavour Sport will rival Toyota Fortuner TRD
Ford Endeavour Sport SUV will be launched in India in a few days, probably around 23 September. However, ahead of its India launch, some dealerships in India have started accepting Endeavour Sport’s bookings in India for a token amount ranging between ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. It is worth noting that these are unofficial bookings for the SUV although we expect Ford to officially open its order books soon for this upcoming SUV. When launched, the Endeavour Sport will take on Toyota Fortuner TRD model.
Now, Ford Endeavour Sport is a sportier-looking variant of the SUV and adds several cosmetic tweaks. These include an all-black honeycomb grille without chrome slats, black inserts on the front and rear bumper, black roof rails, black alloy wheels, and black caps for the outside rearview mirrors. Even the badging on the fenders will get black accents. Now, Ford Endeavour Sport retailed in several international markets at Everest Sport also gets darker dual-tone upholstery for the cabin. However, we expect the India-spec model to sport the familiar dual-tone cabin available on the standard Endeavour SUV.
Ford Endeavour Sport is not likely to receive any additional features as compared to the standard model. So, we expect the sportier Endeavour to get provisions like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with FordPass suite, ambient lighting, handsfree tailgate opening system, push-button stop/start, 8-way powered front seats, dual-zone air conditioner, panoramic sunroof, semi-digital instrument panel, and terrain management system. Ford is likely to offer Sport variant on the top-end Titanium Plus variant, which means the SUV is likely to come equipped with front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBS, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation, cruise control, automatic headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors, etc.
The upcoming Ford Endeavour Sport SUV will be powered by the regular model’s engine. It is a 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel unit that generates 168 bhp and a peak torque of 420 Nm. This powerplant is offered in combination with a ten-speed torque converter automatic transmission only, making it the only car in India to get a ten-speed automatic gearbox.
