Key Highlights

  • Ford Endeavour Sport’s price in India will be revealed tomorrow
  • Ford Endeavour Sport model will sport black alloy wheels and black grille
  • Ford Endeavour Sport will rival Toyota Fortuner TRD

The current generation Ford Endeavour is giving Toyota Fortuner a tough competition in India. However, it is still the Japanese SUV that has more takers. According to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Ford sold 637 units of Endeavour in India last month while Toyota sold 749 units of Fortuner in August 2020. To bridge this gap and rack up more sales in India, the American carmaker is planning to add another model to the Endeavour lineup. Ford will launch Endeavour Sport SUV in India tomorrow. In case you didn’t know, it Endeavour’s sportier-looking model and comes sporting several cosmetic tweaks as compared to the standard model. When launched, the Endeavour Sport will rival Toyota Fortuner TRD rival in India.

Ford Endeavour Sport gets an all-black honeycomb grille without chrome slats, black inserts on the front and rear bumper, black roof rails, black alloy wheels, and black caps for the outside rearview mirrors. Even the badging on the fenders will get black accents. All these design elements are aimed at making the SUV look sportier and more menacing than the standard model. The India-spec Ford Endeavour Sport will get the same cabin and interior upholstery as the standard model. This is in contrast to Endeavour Sport sold in international markets (as Everest Sport) that gets a darker dual-tone interior.

Ford Endeavour Sport bookings open in India, albeit unofficially

Ford Endeavour Sport is likely to be offered on the top-spec Titanium+ trim, which means it will come equipped with features like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with FordPass suite, ambient lighting, handsfree tailgate opening system, push-button stop/start, 8-way powered front seats, dual-zone air conditioner, panoramic sunroof, semi-digital instrument panel, and terrain management system. And the safety features on the upcoming SUV will include front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBS, electronic stability control with rollover mitigation, cruise control, automatic headlamps, tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors, etc.

Powering the Endeavour Sport will be the familiar 2.0-litre diesel unit that develops 168 bhp and 420 Nm. This powerplant is offered in combination with a ten-speed torque converter automatic transmission only. The SUV is also likely to get four-wheel drivetrain as standard.
