Former AHSTW runner Portch makes strong college debut

(Des Moines) — Former AHSTW standout Ryann Portch had a strong college debut on Saturday at the Grand View Open cross country meet.

Portch — now a freshman at Hawkeye Community College — ran a 19:29.40 to finish in fifth place at the meet.

Southwestern freshman and Nodaway Valley alum Joshua Baudler was the highest finisher among former KMAlanders in the boys race. Baudler, who won last year’s 1A state championship, placed 13th in 16:48.80.
