As we are inching towards the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, modak is on our minds. The Indian sweet dumpling of rice flour layer enclosing nuts, jaggery and other foods is a specialty of this festival. Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 22nd August 2020, and we can’t contain our excitement to make and savour the prasadam for Lord Ganesha. Many people follow the ritual of offering 21 kinds of modaks in the prasadam. If that’s too much for you, we have a quick and easy recipe of kaju modak that you can make in just 15 minutes.
You just need 4 ingredients to make this sweet modak – cashews, ghee, sugar and water. Grind cashews into a fine powder. Make sugar syrup, which is not too thick. Add powdered cashews and mix well on low flame for about 5 minutes. Let the mixture cool down a bit and thicken. Smear the mixture with ghee and shape the mixture into modaks. Usually, moulds are used to make nice, shapely modaks. But, if you don’t have mould at home, this recipe will show you how to do it with a regular spoon! Isn’t it amazing?
The kaju modak recipe video from YouTube channel ‘Cooking With Reshu’ is perfect to prepare your menu for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. It is easy to make, takes hardly any time and tastes superb. Your family will dig into this heavenly treat making this important festival even more joyous.
