MANSFIELD – Three school records were crushed, two coaching milestones achieved and league championships were decided.

And those are just a few of the highlights from this week’s Go Figure!

18:19.12: Time it took Ontario’s Brienne Trumpower to race around the course at the first Seneca East Night Invite, a new school record. Trumpower absolutely blazed the course in record time and led her team to the invite championship with her first-place finish. Ellie Maurer ran a 19:56.24 to take third overall in the race. Ariah Reuer added a 20:20.97 to take fifth, Cori Wentz took seventh with a 20:27.86 and Madison Genders ran a 21:01.18 to take ninth overall in the race. The Lady Warriors had a team score of 25 to take first while Edison was a distant second at 73.

2: Number of school records that were broken during Crestview’s 55-7 win over South Central in Week 5. Quarterback Ross Kuhn threw five touchdown passes to break a 5-player tie, one being his father, Tim Kuhn, to set his name at the top of the single-game touchdown passing list while Evan Hamilton caught four of those passes, breaking his own school record of three, in the victory. Kuhn completed 9 of 12 passes for 207 yards and rushed for 60 yards on four carries while Hamilton had seven catches for 160 yards and four TDs. In Week 4, he tied a 30-year record held by Jim Phillips when he caught three TD passes against Western Reserve in 1986.

500: Number of career coaching victories piled up by Shelby head girls tennis coach Jeff Kurtzman. His Lady Whippets handed him the milestone victory after cruising by Galion 5-0 last week when Grace Mahek took the first singles victory over Jarica Cassady 6-0, 6-0; Sadie Smith took the second singles win over Kadence Fairchild 6-0, 6-0 and Aly Deane beat Kyah Coutler in third singles 6-0, 6-3. Anna Vogt and Raegan Gurney took home the first doubles win over Emma Maguire and Lydia McCabe 6-0, 6-0 while Madison Sharrock and Olivia Fordyce swept Zoe Neagin and Taylor Henry in second doubles 6-0, 6-0.

200: Number of career coaching victories for Madison head coach Tim Lord after a 2-1 victory over Vermilion over the weekend when Corbin Herr scored two goals to hand his head coach the milestone win.

3: Number of goals scored by Madison’s Taylor Huff during the Lady Rams’ 4-1 win over 2019 Division I state runner-up Anthony Wayne. Huff set the tone for the Lady Rams to pick up the huge win as Trinity Tucker also knocked home a goal and Savannah Rachel collected an assist off of a corner kick. Earlier in the week, the Lady Rams picked up a 6-1 win over Lexington to clinch at least a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference championship, their third in four years. Kari Eckenwiler scored two goals in that win while Huff, Taylor Russell and Paige Mowry each added one with the final coming via an own goal. The Lady Rams are 10-0-1 on the season and have a huge possible Division II district final preview match at Ontario on Thursday.

Also, the number of goals scored by Mansfield Christian’s Anna Sparks in a hard-fought 4-1 win over Sandusky Perkins. Sparks collected the hat trick while adding an assist and Abby Little chipped in with a goal and an assist in the victory. Noelle Beare and Lillie Berryman had one assist apiece to contribute to the win. Earlier in the week, the Lady Flames battled Crestview to a scoreless 0-0 tie. The draw puts both Crestview and Mansfield Christian in the No. 1 spot in the Mid-Buckeye Conference. The Lady Flames and Lady Cougars will finish in a tie for the MBC title.

2: Number of goals scored by Ontario sophomores Kyla Spencer and Ally Potter during the Lady Warriors’ 4-0 win over Clear Fork last week. The win put the Lady Warriors in the driver’s seat for the MOAC championship as they just need wins over Galion, Pleasant and Marion Harding over the final few weeks of the season to claim yet another league championship.

4: Number of touchdowns Clear Fork’s Brady Tedrow accounted for during the Colts’ 35-14 win over Pleasant, the Colts’ first win of the season. Tedrow scored three rushing touchdowns and added a receiving score while piling up 146 rushing yards on 14 carries, 45 yards on one catch and 34 yards on four completed passes. The Colts are now 1-4 on the year and finish up the regular season at Marion Harding in Week 6.

3-0: The final score between the Clear Fork Lady Colts and Riverview on Saturday as the Lady Colts picked up a nice win. Morgan Galco scored two goals while Zoe McCue added the insurance goal. Anna Labaki and Avary Wine had one assist apiece while the Lady Colts defense did not allow a single shot on goal all match long. Earlier in the week, Clear Fork also picked up a 3-1 win over Buckeye Valley as Avery Wend, Ellie Hauger and Trinity Cook scored one goal apiece. Anders earned the win in goal with three saves. The Lady Colts are 6-3-1 on the year.

16:26.10: Time it took Plymouth’s Levi Robinson to race around the course at the Seneca East Invite on Saturday night. Robinson took second place overall in a loaded field that featured teams such as Genoa and Ontario.

1: Number of times the Ontario Warriors have beat the Galion Tigers in football over the history of the two programs. Ontario earned a dominating 28-0 win over Galion on Friday night for their first win in nine meetings all-time between the two programs. Owen Hatfield had a day with two interceptions, one he took back for an 81-yard Pick 6. Jaylon Scott ran for two touchdowns while Ethan Snyder ran for another as the Warriors defense pitched the shutout. Scott finished with 109 rushing yards.

17:06.83: Time it took Ontario’s Robey Bolen to finish the course at the Seneca East Invite. His time was good for sixth place overall as the Warriors took second place as a team with 97 points behind No. 1 Genoa at 73. Ken Chang ran a 17:52.81 to take 18th while Miles Meisse took 20th with a 17:57.51.

3: Number of goals scored by Mansfield Senior’s Tyler Crall during the Tygers’ 6-2 win over Massillon Washington. Crall sent in a pair of penalty kicks to go with his other goal to lead the Tygers to their first victory of the season.

320: Number of passing yards piled up by Shelby’s Marshall Shepherd during the Whippets’ dominating 37-7 win over Lucas. Shepherd completed 14 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns to three different receivers. Andre Hill was his main target with four catches for 140 yards and a score. The Whippets are 5-0 on the season and can clinch at least a share of the MOAC title on Friday against River Valley.

70: Number of strokes it took Ashland’s Tyler Sabo to complete his round at Mohican Hills during the Ohio Cardinal Conference boys golf tournament. He led the Arrows to the team title with a team score of 308 as he earned medalist honors for the day. His teammates Kamden Mowry and Aiden Baker were medalist runners-up with matching 77s while Ryan Frazee added an 84 to round out the Arrows’ team score. Sabo was named the OCC Player of the Year for 2020.

429: The team score for the Ontario Lady Warriors who won their first Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference golf championship last week, finishing 11 strokes better than Highland for the team championship. Brooklyn Adkins paced the Lady Warriors with a 97. Samantha Fraley came in with a 105; Brooklyn Wharton, a 108; and Maddie Seibel, 119.

4: Number of consecutive MOAC titles won by the Galion boys golf team after they took home the 2020 championship. The Tigers shot a 310 during the league championship tournament, giving them their fourth consecutive MOAC title and pushing their MOAC match win streak to 53. Spencer Keller was the tournament co-medalist with a 74 to go along with Shelby’s Lincoln Finnegan. Matthew McMullen added a 77 while Max Longwell added a 78, Bronson Dalenberg added an 81, Nick McMullen carded an 87 and Logan Keller rounded out the day with an 89.

6-4: The score of the closest set during Shelby’s Mollie Eith and Olivia Fordyce’s run to an MOAC tournament doubles tennis championship last week. They picked up a win over Clear Fork’s Liz Langer and Jordan Pfeifer 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the semifinals where they beat Sofia Tinnerello and Karli Harris of Marion Harding 6-1 and 6-4 to move on to the finals. It was there where Eith and Fordyce put the finishing touches on a championship day with a  6-1, 6-3 win over River Valley’s Ashiah Harris and Courtney Cookson.

37: Number of strokes it took Clear Fork’s Jared Scott to finish his day during a 161-165 win over Shelby in an MOAC match last week. Scott was the medalist for the day with his 37 while Caleb Dettmer added a 40, Drew Lind and Zane Schultz chipped in with matching 42s, Peter Cooke carded a 44 and Kyle Kline rounded out the scoring with a 49. Carson Brubaker led the Whippets with a 39 while Nicole Jones fired a 41, Lincoln Finnegan carded a 42, Carson Garrett shot a 43 and Eli Winchester rounded out the day with a 46.

1: Number of goals scored during the Lexington Lady Lex victory over Mount Vernon. The lone goal was sent in by Lexi Blasberg off an assist from Marissa Marquardt. Eyan Underwood earned the shutout in goal with four saves.

Also, the number of goals scored in Shelby’s win over Galion in girls soccer. Arizona Graszl led the way with the lone goal of the game while Audriana Albert contributed with the assist.

2-2: The final score between the Clear Fork Colts and Ontario Warriors in MOAC boys soccer last week. The Colts and Warriors are tied at the top of the league standings as Clear Fork must beat Pleasant and Marion Harding while Ontario needs to knock off Galion, Pleasant and Harding to lay claim to the MOAC championship. Clear Fork’s Wyatt Strong scored both goals for the Colts while Ontario saw Gage Weaver and Zane Fulmer scored one goal apiece for the Warriors.
