Hyderabad: The 60th National Open Athletics Championships (NOAC) was inaugurated by the minister for sports, tourism and culture V Srinivas Goud, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS) in Hanamkonda, on Wednesday.
“The state government is planning to develop mini sports stadiums in all the 33 districts across Telangana,” said the minister. He welcomed the participants from 23 states. 566 sportsmen will perform at the games.
“The national event is going to create history on the synthetic track which was laid out recently”, said Panchayat raj and rural development minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao. The work on Rs 7.8-crore synthetic track was completed in time to host the event. Chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, GWMC mayor Gundu Sudha Rani, KUDA chairman Marri Yadav Reddy were also present at the event.
