NEW DELHI: The government is considering to revisit its Covid-19 testing strategy to advise states to make it available on demand as India has now ramped up testing capacities and is also locally manufacturing testing kits and reagents, reports Sushmi Dey.
“We will review the strategy looking at the capacity and access to people. It is practically on demand anyway. The broader purpose is to ensure that resources are used for the best purpose to avoid frivolous testing. But, we will review the testing strategy after looking at the capacity we currently have,” Niti Aayog member VK Paul said.
At present, there are 1476 labs across the country, including 971 government labs and 505 private labs. India has so far conducted over 3 crore tests.
