HATHRAS: A team of Trinamool MPs led by Derek O’Brien was manhandled by UP police when they tried to reach Hathras on Friday.
The MPs were physically assaulted even as O’Brien was pushed to the ground and another female member of
the team Pratima Mondal was assaulted by UP police. Tronamool leaders condemned the attack. They were barely a kilometre away from Hathras.

Kakali Ghosh Dastidar another MP said that their team was near Hathras when they were stopped by the police and some offiicials.
The team had traveled about 200km from Delhi when they were stopped. The MPs had wanted to meet the victim’s mother to expres their solidarity and to convey their condolences.
“We are travelling individually and following .all Covid protocols and still they stopped us. It is a jungle raj going on in UP so we being MPs were stopped while they failed to protect the dignity of a raped woman,” the MPs said.
