Live entertainment has been among the worst hit industries of the coronavirus lockdown with theatres and music venues only just able to reopen with major restrictions.
Limited capacities, social distancing between performers and difficulties serving interval refreshments all means even when venues do throw open their doors once again they will face major financial challenges.
The Philharmonic Hall is one of the first venues in Liverpool to announce a – somewhat changed – programme that will enable audiences to return next month, and St Helens Theatre Royal has changed its panto to a less expensive show to enable it to go ahead.
However, the Everyman has announced its rock ‘n’ roll panto – a festive institution in Liverpool – will not take place this year, instead promising a different, but equally wonderful Christmas experience.
Whether our live entertainment venues survive will partly be down to the government, partly to their ability to innovate and partly down to us – the audience. So today we’re asking you whether you are ready to return to see a show, what safety measures you would like to see in place and how much you have missed theatre and live music throughout lockdown.

Thank you for taking part at this crucial time for the arts in Liverpool.
We will share the results next week.
