1. Egg Chaat
We all have street food pangs every now and then. And here’s an alternative that is way more healthy but equally zingy!
Things you’ll need:
Boiled Eggs
Onion
Tomato
Green Chilli
Chaat Masala
Salt
How to make it:
Chop the boiled eggs, onion, tomatoes and green chillies. Mix them together in a bowl and sprinkle with chaat masala with salt. You can always add some pepper if you’re craving for that ‘teekha’ aftertaste. The best part about this easy chaat is that there’s no limit on the proportions. You can set them according to your taste.
2. Fruity Frozen Yoghurt
When you’re moving to a more fitness-oriented lifestyle, the one thing you’ll definitely miss is dessert. However, dessert doesn’t always have to be unhealthy and frozen yoghurt (topping the list of healthy snacks since forever) is proof.
Things you’ll need:
Fruits
Yogurt
How to make it:
Chop some fruits of your choice and mix them with yoghurt. Put it in the freezer for an hour or two and enjoy!
3. Chilli Lemon Popcorn
Did you know that when you air-pop your popcorn, it has very little calories and is the perfect snack for someone trying to watch their weight? All you have to do is be slightly more attentive than you are when cooking your popcorn in butter. But if it’s the flavour that you’re missing, then this chilli-lemon popcorn can come to your rescue.
Things you’ll need:
Popcorn
Chilli powder
Lemon
How to make it:
First, make sure the container you’re choosing to cook the popcorn is a non-stick pot and comes with a tight lid. Add the popcorn kernels and adjust the flame to the lowest setting. Close the lid. Make sure you shake the pot every 2 minutes, otherwise you’ll end up with burnt popcorn! Will this take more time and attention? Yes. Will this help you keep the calories in check without giving up on the taste? For sure!
Once air-popped, shift the popcorn to a big bowl. Add some chilli powder and a squeeze of lemon. Keep a lid over it and give it a good shake. Make sure you don’t go beyond half or one full lemon depending on the quantity of popcorn, because too much lemon juice can make your popcorn soggy. Munch on!
4. Hummus
Hummus isn’t just one of the healthiest dips available in the market, it is also one of the yummiest. The best part is that it is extremely easy to make at home. You can even freeze it for later use.
Things you’ll need:
Boiled chickpeas
Lemon
Olive oil
Garlic
Ground Cumin
How to make:
First, take half a cup of cooked chickpeas and mash them. Then, put them in a blender or food processor along with 1/4 cup of lemon juice, 1 small garlic clove, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, salt (to taste), and 2 to 3 tablespoons water to adjust consistency. Blend for a minute or two to make sure the hummus comes out smooth and thick.
This will be good for about six servings and you can also refrigerate it for about five days. Pair it with fresh carrots or some cucumber for the perfect snack combination.
5. Baked beetroot chips
Just because you’re eating healthy, doesn’t mean you need to give up on chips! Beetroot is extremely healthy and when made as baked chips, can help you stick to your healthy diet as well.
Things you need:
Beetroot
Olive oil
How to make:
Slice the beetroot and shift to a bowl. Add some olive oil and seasonings of your choice. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place the beetroot slices in it for about 20 minutes. You can use the hummus recipe above to go with it as a dip.
