MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Tyler Van Dyke passed for 325 yards and four touchdowns, two of them to Charleston Rambo, and Miami knocked off No. 18 N.C. State 31-30 on Saturday night to snap a six-game losing streak against Power 5 opponents. Jaylan Knighton had 166 total yards and a touchdown catch for Miami (3-4, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). Rambo finished with nine catches for 127 yards and Will Mallory had a touchdown grab for the Hurricanes. Devin Leary threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns, plus ran for another for N.C. State. Thayer Thomas had both touchdown receptions for the Wolfpack (5-2, 2-1).

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett made the most of his Heisman Trophy showcase, throwing for 302 yards and two touchdowns as the 23rd-ranked Panthers topped Clemson 27-17. Pickett completed 25 of 39 passes to overtake Alex Van Pelt for the most career completions in school history. The fifth-year senior ran for two drive-extending dives late in the fourth quarter after the Tigers had drawn within 10. Clemson saw its chances for another Atlantic Division title take a massive hit thanks in large part to an offense that remains very much a problem with Halloween looming.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Malik Cunningham rushed for three touchdowns, including a 14-yard clinching run with 2:53 remaining to cap a milestone performance, and Louisville overcame four turnovers to beat Boston College 28-14 on Saturday and snap a two-game losing streak. The Cardinals won despite three first-half giveaways and another in the fourth that allowed BC to get within a TD. Cunningham rushed for 133 of his 240 offensive yards and reached 2,000 career yards rushing along with becoming the fourth Louisville player with 30 rushing TDs. Eagles QB Dennis Grosel passed for 141 yards and a TD but tossed two interceptions.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Brennan Armstrong threw four touchdown passes and ran for two more scores and Virginia rallied from a slow start and beat Georgia Tech 48-40 for its fourth straight victory. Armstrong finished with 396 passing yards and 99 yards rushing for the Cavaliers. They scored on eight of 10 possessions after a three-and-out on their first series of the game. Georgia Tech took a quick 13-0 lead but trailed 24-16 by halftime. Jeff Sims threw for 300 yards and three TDs, but the Yellow Jackets lost for the 13th time in their last 15 visits to Scott Stadium. 

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Garrett Shrader rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two, including one to Damien Alford with 19 seconds left, to lift Syracuse to a 41-36 victory over Virginia Tech. The Orange scored 14 points in the final 2:28 to snap a three-game losing streak. Shrader’s 45-yard scoring toss to Alford, who beat Virginia Tech’s Dorian Strong, was the difference. Malachi Thomas paced Virginia Tech, which has lost three straight games, with 151 yards rushing and three touchdowns. The Hokies finished with season highs in total yards (437) and rushing yards (260).

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jordan Travis, Jashaun Corbin, Treshaun Ward, D.J. Williams and Lawrance Toafili each had touchdown runs as Florida State routed UMass 59-3 on Saturday. The Seminoles (3-4) have won three straight games for the first time since the end of the 2017 season. Corbin ran for 127 yards on 11 carries. Florida State ran for a season-high 365 yards, the sixth time this season the Seminoles have surpassed the 200-yard mark on the ground. UMass opened the scoring with a Cameron Carson 45-yard field goal.

UNDATED (AP) — There is a developing College Football Playoff race between an outgoing Big 12 school and an incoming Big 12 school. No. 2 Cincinnati, heading to the Big 12 at some point, and No. 3 Oklahoma, leaving the Big 12 at some point, remained undefeated, though neither was at its best. Two more top-10 teams lost to unranked opponents in Week 8, including an epic offense failure for No. 7 Penn State. Iowa State and Wisconsin surged back into their conference races while No. 23 Pitt put Clemson’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship hopes in critical condition.

UNDATED (AP) — The last three weeks have featured a team ranked in the top three of the AP college football poll losing to an unranked team. That streak will be tough to extend in Week 8. No. 1 Georgia is off. No. 2 Cincinnati is a four-touchdown favorite at Navy and No. 3 Oklahoma is favored by more than five touchdowns against Kansas. The best game of the week is taking place in the Pac-12 with No. 10 Oregon visiting UCLA and former Ducks coach Chip Kelly. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickets gets the chance to make a Heisman case against Clemson.
