TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Rachaad White ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns, helping Arizona State bounce back from two ugly losses to beat Southern California 31-16. The Sun Devils relied heavily on their run game to overcome three turnovers and their defense held when it needed to for a much-needed win. Jayden Daniels was mostly ineffective passing, throwing for 145 yards and two interceptions — both by Xavion Alford — but White made up for it after missing last week’s game with a right leg injury. USC alternated between Kedon Slovis and Jaxson Dart at quarterback — and neither could seem to get into a rhythm. Dart scored on a 9-yard run, but the Trojans had to settle for three Parker Lewis field goals when they had a chance to build a lead. 

SEATTLE (AP) — Travis Dye rushed for a career-high 211 yards and one touchdown, Anthony Brown ran for one score and passed for another and No. 7 Oregon overcame a sluggish start to beat Washington 26-16. A year after the border rivals didn’t play due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Huskies program, the Ducks fell behind early before running off 21 consecutive points and beat Washington for the seventh time in the past eight games played in Seattle. The Ducks avoided the kind of stumble that befell Michigan State earlier in the day and should give Oregon the chance of moving up in the College Football Playoff rankings. 

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado Buffaloes beat Oregon State 37-34 in double overtime after Beavers kicker Everett Hayes nailed a 60-yard field goal as time expired in regulation. That tied the Folsom Field record set by Mason Crosby against Iowa State back in 2004. Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the first overtime. But Hayes missed a 38-yard attempt wide left in the second overtime and Cole Becker nailed a 43-yarder to give Colorado the win. It marks the Buffs’ first multi-overtime victory in four tries. The Buffs’ win also denied the Beavers a sixth win for the first time since 2013.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona ended the nation’s longest losing streak at 20 games, beating COVID-19-depleted California 10-3 on Saturday on Michael Wiley’s 10-yard touchdown run with 2:17 left. Wiley capped a 55-yard drive that was set up by Stanley Berryhill III’s 25-yard punt return. Arizona quarterback Will Plummer had 197 yards of total offense and the Wildcats held California to 122 yards while winning for the first time since a 35-30 victory over Colorado on Oct. 5, 2019. Cal played without starting quarterback Chase Garbers. He was one of seven starters and 24 players and coaches who were unavailable. Cal announced Thursday that “multiple” players were in Covid protocols and would not play

What would the CFP field look like then? It’s a fun game, but usually the teams that most surprisingly reach November in playoff contention don’t stay that way. If you spent any time this week wondering: What if No. 5 Michigan State (CFP No. 3) or No. 10 Wake Forest (CFP No. 9) finished undefeated, well, that’s not a thing anymore. When it comes to the CFP What If game, the question shouldn’t be what happens if all these teams win out? It should be what if all these teams lose down the stretch?
