HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS: Guidelines announced for local athletic events

[ad_1]

The Elizabethtown Independent, Hardin County and Meade County school systems have released their respective fall high school sports guidelines.

Cross country, soccer and volleyball competition begins on Monday and football on Friday.

ELIZABETHTOWN INDEPENDENT. Vouchers will be sent to home and visiting schools and distributed via the athletic director or head coach for each game.

This voucher will allow the holder to advance to the admission gate and start the process for admission. No one will be allowed to move to the payment area without a voucher.

When you enter Elizabethtown HS campus, come to the main entrance of the athletic facility where the event is to be played.

Make sure your voucher has the required information completed on the voucher, such as name, cell number. This is for contact tracing. You will place your voucher in a predetermined container, clearly marked at the admission gate.

When you arrive at the admission gate, you will be asked if you have any COVID symptoms in the past 24 hours. At this point, your temperature will be taken. If it is below 100.4 you will be allowed to move to the table to pay for admission to the event. If your temperature is over 100.4 you will be pulled aside and after a few minutes, your temperature will be taken again. If under 100.4, you will be allowed to continue in the process for admission. If not, you will not be allowed to enter the event.

Payment will occur in one of two ways. We will accept correct change only; ticket price is $5 per event. We will also be able to swipe your credit/debit card for admission.

Masks will be required at all times.

Bleacher seats will be marked for the purpose of social distancing.

Recommended you bring a lawn chair if you wish to sit outside of the bleachers, beyond the fenced area for football and soccer games. Social distancing will be required and families must sit together.

HARDIN COUNTY. All attendees will wear a mask for the duration of their stay on campus. Student-athletes will wear a mask when they are not participating in the contest.

Social distancing at a minimum of six-feet will be required. Family members can sit together and be within six feet of each other.

Spectator attendance at games will be maximized at 20 percent of the venue’s capacity. Each school will determine the capacity of its venue in accordance with KHSAA recommendations on attendance and will work with the competing school regarding the distribution of tickets.

There will be no general admission tickets.

Tickets must be purchased before all contests. The parents/guardians of participating student-athletes will be given first priority for tickets. Schools will determine the capacity for each sport and will handle the dispersal of tickets.

Spectators and athletes will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entry into the athletic venue. All will be asked if they currently have COVID-19 symptoms and temperatures will be taken.

No passes of any kind (coach’s cards, lifetime passes, etc.) will be honored at any HCS athletic event.

Spectators are expected to follow the guidance of game officials, game management and venue signage.

MEADE COUNTY. The goal for our Return to Sports Plan is to keep out student-athletes safe while allowing them the chance to compete in the sport they love.

A successful Return ti Sports will be a positive step in getting our students back to school.

Attendance will be capped to ensure safety and social distancing in accordance to KHSAA Guidelines: 2 tickets for each Meade County athlete; 2 tickets for each opponent athlete; No season passes and no general admission tickets

All in attendance must be socially distant at all times. Bleachers and seating areas will be marked where seating is allowed

According to KHSAA Guidelines, all in attendance must wear a mask at all times.

All fans must have a ticket for entry. Tickets will include a health screening to assist with contact tracing. Temperatures will be checked upon entry; any temperature above 100.4 after two temperature checks will be denied entry.

We are currently working on a live stream option for those not in attendance to be able to view all MCHS athletic home events. More details to come.

Our hope is that we have the opportunity to adjust this plan for Segments 2 and 3.
