XAVIER 54, FOX VALLEY LUTHERAN 18

APPLETON – The Hawks snapped a four-game losing streak in the Apple Bowl rivalry series, running all over the Foxes for 446 yards on 47 carries on Rocky Bleier Field at Xavier.

Xavier quarterback Ray Zuleger had five rushing touchdowns in the first half, when he carried nine times for 192 yards. He finished the game with 229 yards on 16 carries.

The Foxes scored first on a 44-yard touchdown pass from Drew Mears to Parker Knoll, but it was all Xavier after that.

Zuleger had TD runs of 76, 17 and 5 yards in the first quarter, then added scoring runs of 5 and 1 yards in the second quarter.

KAUKAUNA 39, MARTIN LUTHER 7

KAUKAUNA – Gannon Demler threw for four touchdowns and the Ghosts erupted for 32 consecutive points in the rout of Martin Luther at Bank of Kaukauna Stadium.

Demler connected on touchdown passes of 34 and 14 yards to Logan Fitzhugh, 33 yards to Noah Hofmann and 10 yards to Carson Sippel.

Charlie Weber closed out the Ghosts’ scoring with a 12-yard touchdown run in the fourth for Kaukauna (1-0).

Brady Hoppert had a 28-yard scoring strike to Jacob Harlaub for Martin Luther’s lone touchdown.

FREEDOM – The Irish jumped out to a 31-0 lead at halftime and cruised to the North Eastern Conference victory over the Vikings.

Jon Verhasselt had touchdown runs of 4, 46 and 14 yards in the first half for Freedom. He finished with 87 yards on nine carries.

Denmark’s only score came on a 7-yard pass from Lucas Miller to Drake Locklear in the fourth quarter.

“We got out to a fast start and that was nice. Special teams really helped us get where we wanted to be early in the game,” Freedom coach Frank Mattia said. “We did have a lull where we lost our focus a litle bit. Credit to Denmark for fighting on. You don’t just lose your focus. Other teams make you lose your focus.

“It was a nice win for us against a program that has given us a lot of trouble in recent years.”

WRIGHTSTOWN – The Tigers ran for 459 yards and, after falling behind 16-7, scored 34 unanswered points in the win over the Spartans.

Wrightstown was led by Logel Koel, who carried the ball 12 times for 161 yards, and Quincy Klister, who carried 17 times for 145 yards. Jared Pelishek added 96 yards rushing on 13 carries.

Isaac VandenBush led Luxemburg-Casco with 103 yards rushing on 14 carries.

SHAWANO 44, NEW LONDON 27

SHAWANO – The Hawks outscored the Bulldogs 24-14 in the second half to seal the Bay Conference victory.

Gage Timm accounted for four total touchdowns and over 230 yards of offense to lead Shawano. Timm connected with Eliott Lowney for scores of 39 and 77 yards in the second quarter and added 46-yard and 2-yard rushing scores in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

Eliott Lowney had a big day for the Hawks with 137 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, as well as an 86-yard kickoff return touchdown.

Kaleb Lowney rushed for 107 yards and found the end zone twice on scores of 4 and 2 yards for Shawano.

Ben Noffke powered New London’s offense with 271 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. Noffke threw two touchdown passes each to Kyle Wisnewski and Jackson Fields. Gabe Wohlt paced Bulldogs receivers with 10 catches for 112 yards.

CLINTONVILLE – The Bears built an 18-point halftime lead and cruised to a win over the Truckers.

Carson Robaidek caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, both from Cole Anderson, to pace Bonduel receivers.

Max Marohl rushed for 108 yards on 11 carries to lead the Bears on the ground.

Derek Smejkal scored Clintonville’s first touchdown on a 100-yard pick six in the third quarter. Nathan Morse added a 6-yard rushing score for the Truckers in the fourth quarter.

CEDAR GROVE – The Rockets edged the Wolves in a battle of two of the top teams in the Big East Conference.

It was the big play which proved the difference for the Rockets, who had passing plays of 58, 60 and 80 yards in addition to a run of 70 yards.

Logan Arrowood led Cedar Grove-Belgium, throwing four touchdowns, two each to receivers Sam Peiffer and Cole Augustiniak.

Hilbert’s offense ran through Dylan Dohr, literally, as he rushed for 160 yards on 29 carries with a pair of touchdowns.

SPENCER – Will Schlafke caught a 21-yard touchdown pass and Eden Jacobson scored on the two-point conversion put the Rockets ahead to stay in the second overtime in their win over the Wolves.

Spencer/Columbus Catholic secured the win when Manawa’s game-tying two-point conversion attempt after Deion Stroud’s 20-yard touchdown run was turned back.

Jacobson led Spencer/Columbus Catholic with 128 yards rushing while Dominic Post added 117 yards rushing.

Manawa was led by Stroud with 129 rushing yards on 14 carries while Mason Wiesner rushed for 122 yards on seven carries. Wiesner also completed six passes for 107 yards.

The two teams combined to run 120 plays and pile up 901 yards of offense. Manawa averaged 11.4 yards per rush while Spencer/Columbus Catholic averaged 6.2 yards per rush.

“We are extremely proud of these young men. They showed a lot of heart in coming from behind and never giving up,” Spencer/Columbus coach Jason Gorst said. “Gage made some clutch throws, Eden ran hard again and Max McGiveron and Dominic Post had breakout games. Will Schlafke had a couple of very clutch plays.”
