NEW DELHI: Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday introduced the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) in the new Sport trim in Venue.
Venue Sport trim will be offered with 1.5-litre U2 CRDi Diesel BS6 engine (6MT) as well as Kappa 1.0 l T-GDi Petrol BS6 engine (iMT/ 7DCT).
The new Hyundai Venue Sport trim petrol variant delivers a maximum power output of 120 PS and offers a peak torque of 171 Nm. The diesel variant of the Sport Trim delivers a maximum power output of 100 PS and offers a peak torque of 240 Nm.
Hyundai’s iMT technology features a Transmission Gear Shift (TGS) Lever with Intention Sensor, Hydraulic Actuator and Transmission Control Unit (TCU). The system has been designed to offer a seamless Drive Experience by incorporating a cohesive logic between the various components on manual transmissions.

Debut of Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) offering a clutch pedal-free drive experience is available on Venue SX and SX(O) as well as Venue in Sport Trim on SX and SX(O).
The iMT technology is very different from the Continously Variable Transmission (CVT) or the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). iMT is basically a modified manual transmission which still gives the driver power over the gearstick without the use of a clutch pedal.

The sport trim in Venue now features sporty D-cut steering with paddle shifters on Kappa 1.0 l T-GDi Petrol. A new dual-tone colour – Titan Grey with Phantom Black Roof is also introduced on the trim.

The sports trim with iMT, Kappa Petrol starts at Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom), DCT at Rs 11.58 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, Venue with iMT (without sports trim) is priced Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
The Sport trim of the Venue comes with a new electrifying colour scheme that will make it stand apart from the rest of the line-up. The eye-catching Dual tone titan grey with phantom black roof is the Hyundai’s ace up its sleeve.
The Hyundai Venue seems to be on a dream run in India. Hyundai has sold over 1 lakh units of the compact SUV since its debut in May 2019. Even when the market appears unstable, Hyundai Venue is still trying to outshine its rivals.
Hyundai Venue iMT will compete against the upcoming Kia Sonet, which will also feature the same technology. Kia Sonet will become the second car to offer the feature in the compact SUV market in India. The new Hyundai Venue Sport trim is anyways up against its long-time rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
“Hyundai has consistently set the benchmark with new Products and Technologies that offer Superior Design, Comfort, Performance and Efficiency. VENUE – India’s First Connected and most awarded SUV of 2019-2020, has now been launched with the innovative Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) and Sport Trim. With this, we are once again setting new standards for the industry that will enhance Customer Delight and revolutionize the way India Drives,” said SS Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India.
