ICAI CA Exam 2024 News Live Updates: The Delhi High Court on Monday refused a petition that sought its course to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to postpone the CA Inter and Final examinations scheduled for June, 2024.
The petitioners highlighted transportation and different points that will come up because of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections however the bench was of the view that no rule suggests exams cannot be performed as a consequence of elections.
“You want the CA exams to be postponed? Is there some law that says there can’t be any exams during Lok Sabha elections? You have no business to be CA if you can’t study due to election” the bench said.
“Mere fact that candidates taking the exam may face hardship in undertaking the exam cannot be a ground for the court to derail the exam which is to be taken by approx 4.26,000 aspirants. This court is surprised that such a request has been made,” it added.
The ICAI had previously changed the dates for the CA Inter and Final examinations in view of the Lok Sabha Elections.
CA Inter Group I exams are scheduled for May 3, 5 and 9, 2024, and for Group II, exams will take place on May 11, 15 and 17, 2024.
CA Final Group I exams will take place on May 2, 4, and 8, 2024, and the Group II exam will be conducted on May 10, 14, and 16, 2024. The International Taxation -Assessment Test is scheduled for May 14 and 16, 2024.
The CA Foundation course examination will take place in June and will not be affected by the elections.

CA exam postponement plea: Don’t appear if can’t appear, court remarks
The counsel said exams were postponed before in the wake of COVID but this is a different ground.
“A lot of students have problems in appearing in the exam…students have said that they have problems since there are loudspeakers. These students will be stuck.”

Counsel: There are disabled candidates…there are millions of candidates who’re supporting the petitioners…the disabled candidates are of the view that there could be issues in transportation. Lots of chaos shall be there. There shall be campaigning. Loudspeakers shall be there.
