Amitabh Kant, the G20 sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog, stated that the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is a ‘useless expertise’ and the best way ahead is electrical, pushing for EV makers to make India the most important producer and exporter of electrical autos.
“We are the biggest exporter of two-wheelers in the world, ICE is a dead technology according to me and the market is disrupted with EVs and that is why players like Ather should not just make for India but for the world, ” Kant stated throughout a key word handle at Ather’s group day occasion held in Bengaluru on April 6.

Kant additionally pushed for Indian EV gamers to make electrical two-wheelers for the worldwide market. “It is the mindset of entrepreneurs. He added that by 2030 the entire world will transfer solely be electrical and India should seize that chance.
Kant’s phrases come at a time when the central authorities has lowered the price range allocation for the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicle (FAME) scheme by practically 44 p.c to Rs 2,671 crore for FY25, which can lead to a slowdown within the adoption of electrical autos in India.

Make EV-centric curriculum
Talking of skilling throughout the EV trade, Kant stated the Centre has labored with round 20 IITs and IIITs on electrical mobility programs throughout the establishments. “We need data scientists, product developers, prompt engineers and many institutions should change their curriculum based on this,” he stated.
Sharing some recommendation to EV makers, Kant stated the producers mustn’t ‘burn money’ by promoting merchandise at a less expensive price with low-quality. “Never burn cash by selling your vehicles by compromising on quality… Create a brand for an aspirational middle-class Indian, ” he signed off.
