Jaishankar on Thursday stated India has prolonged a concessional USD 40 million Line of Credit for creating sporting infrastructure within the Maldives, as a part of New Delhi’s efforts to carry Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship tasks equivalent to “Fit India” and “Khelo India” into the ambit of the Neighbourhood First Policy.

“Sports infrastructure across islands will be developed through the dedicated concessional USD 40 million Line of Credit. One is called Fit India, to encourage all of us to be fit and the other is called Khelo India for the young people to take part in sports,” Jaishankar stated throughout the inauguration.
“For me today, this is a way of taking Fit India and Khelo India into our Neighbourhood First Policy and we certainly would like to see a much more socially active, physically active South Asia,” he stated.
Fit India and Khelo India have been launched by the Modi authorities to revive sporting and health tradition on the grass root stage within the nation.
Jaishankar inaugurated the group centre together with his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid.
