Officials from India’s GST tax division are looking the places of work of UpGrad, an edtech unicorn that counts Temasek, James Murdoch’s Lupa Systems and World Bank’s International Finance Corporation amongst its backers, the startup stated Wednesday.

“It’s a routine survey and we are fully compliant and cooperating with the GST department,” stated Koell Hemdev, Head of Legal at UpGrad, in an announcement.

The startup, based by Ronnie Screwvala (pictured above), has raised $600 million altogether and was valued at $2.25 billion final 12 months.

Eight-year-old UpGrad focuses on larger schooling and upskilling programs. It presents college students over 100 programs in knowledge science, machine studying, synthetic intelligence, blockchain, finance, programming and regulation in collaboration with universities reminiscent of Michigan State University, the IIT Madras and IIT Delhi, and Swiss School of Business Management, Geneva.

The searches observe India’s crime-fighting company searching three premises of edtech giant Byju’s and its founder Byju Raveendran earlier this 12 months.
