India to withdraw 2,000-rupee notes from circulation

MUMBAI, May 19 (Reuters) – India’s central financial institution stated on Friday it’s going to begin withdrawing 2,000-rupee notes from circulation, though they may stay authorized tender.

People will likely be requested to deposit 2,000-rupee banknotes of their financial institution accounts or change them for smaller denominations between May 23 and Sept. 30, the Reserve Bank of India stated.

They will be capable of change as much as 20,000 Indian rupees ($244.56) at a time, it added.
