India’s oldest Test cricketer and former captain Dattajirao Gaekwad died in Vadodara on Tuesday as a consequence of age-related illnesses.

Gaekwad, who was the daddy of former India opener and nationwide coach Aunshuman Gaekwad, was 95.

He breathed his final early this morning after battling for all times within the ICU of a hospital in Vadodara for the previous 12 days.

He performed 11 Tests for India between 1952 and 1961, captaining the nationwide workforce in 1959 when it toured England.

The right-hander made his debut in opposition to England at Leeds in 1952 and his ultimate worldwide recreation was in opposition to Pakistan in Chennai in 1961.

In the Ranji Trophy, Gaekwad represented Baroda from 1947 to 1961. He scored 3139 runs at a mean of 47.56, together with 14 tons of.

His highest was a 249 not out in opposition to Maharashtra within the 1959-60 season.

He turned India’s oldest residing Test cricketer in 2016 after the loss of life of former batter Deepak Shodhan on the age of 87 in Ahmedabad.
