INDORE: Around 24 hours after repprting a dip in new dengue infection, the district has reported a surge in cases on Sunday. The daily infection rose to 17 on Sunday from six on Saturday, taking the total tally to 384, which is the highest in the last six years.
Of the 17 new cases, nine were male and eight females, including 11 children.
The surge on Sunday was a reversal in the declining trend of the last one week, when infection dipped from 22 cases. The district for the first time in the year has 13 patients admitted to hospitals.
District malaria officer Daulat Patel said, “Indore has dengue prevelance index of over 1 at the moment. With field activities such as larvae destruction and fogging, the focus is on to control the disease. People should remain awareand follow precautions to protect themselves ”.
The cases were reported from MR10, Gouri Vihar, Singapore Township, Gandhi Nagar, Agarwal Nagar, Silicon City, Pipliya Rao, Gulabh Bagh and Kalindi Gold.
