Prime Minister Narendra Modi will install the ‘Sengol’, a historic sceptre from Tamil Nadu, in the new Parliament building which is scheduled to be inaugurated by the PM on May 28, 2023, Home Minister Amit Shah stated on Wednesday.
The ‘Sengol’ was acquired by Independent India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, from Lord Mountbatten to symbolically characterize the switch of energy from the British and was later stored in a museum in Allahabad.

I am glad that 96-year-old Vummidi Bangaru Chetty ji, associated with its creation, will also participate in this sacred ceremony,” Mr. Shah stated.
Expressing happiness about Mr. Shah’s announcement, the twenty fourth and present seer of Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam , Sri La Sri Ambalavana Desika Paramacharya Swamigal stated that on the day of the inauguration of the brand new Parliament constructing the sceptre will likely be handed over to Mr. Modi as a symbolic gesture.
The Home Minister stated that the brand new Parliament constructing was an instance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s far-sightedness. He stated the Prime Minister would honour 40,000 labourers on the inauguration.
